I love Beasts & Bourbon. Alta Hensley sure does bring in the hot and steamy with this one. And yes you still get a tad of Tennessee in this one too. I love the chemistry between Roman and Cheri. Roman is a dominant that will not leave you lacking. I love his sweet side when it comes to Cheri. Cheri is a bit of a runner so to speak. You will see what I mean by that when you read this one. Roman and Cheri have known since childhood that they have an arranged marriage and you can't help but feel the love between them. I love how Roman and Cheri handle the Initiation together. That right there will show you just how tight their bond is as the go through the paces from the Iron Colt Brotherhood. I really couldn't put this one down and you don't want to miss a moment of this one. Go one click and see what I mean.

Oh, he will definitely change Cheri and let her experience the darker side of love! This is a very edgy dark erotica story line so if you are looking for a sweet romance this wont be for you. I recommend this book!

I am so excited to be able to read another book from the Top Shelf Series and OMG! I can’t believe this book ended. I so was not prepared for it to end. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this book at first. The beginning shows the worst behavior our female lead could partake in. But enter our prince and she starts to come back from the edge. The further we go, the more we can see that the future princess needs a firm hand to keep her on the straight and narrow. By the end of the book, I was in love with the prince and wishing him luck with his princess. I hope there will be more books in the series.

This is a silly , shallow story construct to get to why this book was written, bdsm that the couple "have" to go through to get married and stay alive.. I am rolling my eyes for the last time with this book. I feel as tho this was written just to be someone's spank bank, if you like humiliation, enema's, pain, voyeurism as played out by the H who likes to do these things but is upset he has to ( oh, so we like then right? is that what you want author?) And the h, who likes it, but until now has escaped for many years so her and her H could screw other people ( stated in book) and 'grow' and doesn't like the idea of their married life because she doesn't want to be watched but doesn't want to leave their little bdsm haven where they are being watched? I am not putting down anyone who enjoys this type of story, I have read some similar, but this is put together so lame I could not take it seriously.

I love this new translation. The book becomes instantly readable. A.E. Waite is infamous for his long winded meandering and almost unreadable victorian verbal masturbation. The message comes through much more clearly, and Greer's introduction is definitely worth reading. I still prefer the original translation of the Conjuration of the Four, including the prayers of the elementals, which I still use in ritual, but as a readable and re-readable version of Levi's Opus, this is a desert island book for me.

This book goes well beyond the expectations of the product description & i highly recommend this seller as well as this book. If you study any mysticism through religious beliefs such as kabbalah, Egyptian book of life, free masonry or just want to learn a more practical approach in mysticism, I feel this is one of the best books to own. It quickly became one of my favorites.

It's an adequate translation, but nothing more. While it is true that anything would be an improvement on A. E. Waite's version, this is far from perfect. The translator claims that some choices were made to retain the rhythm and style of the original writing, but I do not find this to be the case. There are some sections where you get the impression that an alternate phrasing has been used merely to be different to Waite. That may be harsh, but I found myself going back to the original French document for clarity, and then the flaws in this version showed more clearly.The footnotes are, for the most part, excellent, although readers may be annoyed that some sections are deliberately left obscure. There is a section where Lévi writes a lengthy encoded paragraph, with Hebrew, French and Latin, urging the reader to decode the riddle in order to discover one of the most powerful words of magic. The footnote, rather than clarifying, says that the riddle is left for the reader to solve, because that is what Lévi intended. While I admire that this translation respects Lévi's instance that you read deeply, and that you are required to ponder the words at length to get anything of use out of them, I think that this was taking things too far. (If you can't decode it, there are explanations in other books by Lévi.)For readers new to the occult, this book is nothing but bewildering. If you're prepared to work your way through long, allegorical tome, you'll find some of the core ideas of occultism that continue to power modern works, but it is not easy reading. If you've read widely, it can be interesting to go through a new translation, but you never feel completely at ease, knowing that the translation is quite loose.

Unfortunately Random House/TarcherPerigree decided to print this (paperback ed.) on cheap paper so I took one star off. Other than that the translation is fantastic, easy to read and understand. I do recommend if this is something you are interested in.

In 1854, Elaphis Levi tried Necromancy for the first time, successfully raising Apollonius of Tyana, a famous magician of ancient times. During three weeks of preparation including dieting and fasting, Levi meditated on Apollonius and imagined conversations with him. The Ritual of Conjuration was performed in a specially prepared ‘Temple’ in which only he took part and consisted of 12 hours of incantations, after which the floor began to shake and a ghostly apparition appeared. Levi admitted to feeling extremely cold and frightened and when the apparition touched his ritual sword, his arm went suddenly numb. He dropped the sword and fainted. He claimed later that his sword arm was sore and numb for days after the incident. Levi was inclined to treat his experience as a subjective experiment, but observed that it had been sufficient to demonstrate the effectiveness of magical ceremonies. He also condemned their use as dangerous on moral and health grounds outside the hands of an experienced adept.”Ceremonial Magic” according to the rules mockingly laid down by Eliphas Levi, is another imagined alter-ego of the philosophy of the Arhats of old. In short, the prisms through which Occultism appears, to those innocent of the philosophy, are as multi-colored and varied as human fancy can make them.” – H.P. Blavatsky, “Occultism versus the Occult Arts” (article). While Blavatsky had a strong opinion of Levi's attempt to resurrect what he could of Magic, she still had high respect for him regardless. In a response letter to (BARON) J. SPÉDALIERI, a pupil of Levi's, Blavatsky said this as sentimental posthumous respect:" The late Éliphas Lévi was the most learned Kabalist and Occultist of our age in Europe, and everything from his pen is precious to us..."-BlavatskyMy conclusion: Read at your own risk. The drawbacks of this book, however, are that there are not step-by-step color photo tutorials of how each style is recreated.But, it tells readers what hair to buy (if they choose to add extensions to their hair), what materials are needed, and the care of each style. This is more information than most hair care magazines give out.TV-One (an African American channel similar to Black Entertainment) helped to produce this book. I believe that it is better than most hair care magazines which give little information about how each style is created.

Most of the styles require extension hair...was looking for natural braids

At first glance, I would have given this book five stars. On almost every page, there are large full page color photos - unlike most of the books I've seen. There are lots of hairstyles included, unlike some books. I took away two stars because 1)the figures showing how to create the styles are drawings, not photos, and are hard to decipher and 2)the book is organized by synthetic, human, and natural hair instead of by hairstyle. So the hairstyles types repeat themselves for each hairtype for reasons beyond me. I would have liked to see all the microbraids, braids, twists, locks, nube nube, et cetera styles together instead of the human or the sythetic styles. There are no how-tos for the various styles, but the book states that the pictures are mainly for ideas. Had there been directions, I would have given this book five stars for its beautiful large photos. I still like this book best so far for the up-to-date (2007) styles and nice pictures.

I like the ideals in this book and I plan to ask my hair dresser to apply some of the hairstyles on my hair.
