If you don't work on a team or in a job that requires you to use AngularJS however, I would highly suggest looking for a book on Angular 2.x+ and/or Typescript because newer versions of Angular are very different structurally and conceptually in comparison to AngularJS.Core concepts such as "Scope" and "Controllers" that this book focuses on and that drive AngularJS are not present in Angular 2.x+. Angular 2.x+ focuses on Object Oriented web-development, so if you have experience in other object oriented languages, Angular 2.x+ will likely be more familiar to you. Angular 2.x+ also leans heavily on Typescript over Javascript, so if you're a fan on static typing, Angular 2.x+ is the way to go.

I didn't know better.On the udemy.com website there is a GREAT Angular 2.0+ course named "Angular 7 (formerly Angular 2) - The Complete Guide" (he recently updated it to include 7.0 changes) by a guy named Maximilian Schwarzmüller. He is German so you have to adjust just a little to his accent but his methodology and content is amazing. I paid $10 for the course. Now that I have been through the course, I would have gladly paid $500.

This is an important book! Like many others, I was deeply moved when I read "Three Cups of Tea" a few years ago. I had intended to make a donation, but somehow never got around to it--now I'm glad I didn't. The basic story of "Three Cups of Tea" is false, as are most of the claims Greg Mortenson makes in it. His CAI foundation bought thousands of his books to donate to schools and others, paid extravagant travel expenses for him to promote it and for speaking engagements while Mortenson kept all the royalties and fees. When these facts began to be made public, like the typical sociopath he told one lie after another to attempt to cover-up or justify his actions. The state of Montana finally stepped in and fined him, and he is prevented from heading the organization. But, most disturbing is the fact that he is still on the board of directors, still draws a salary, and the institute still gets donations! Krakauer makes other important points, such as how much we all want some "good news" from this part of the world and are therefore eager to help when it seems something is working, and how that Mortenson has hurt not only those close to him, employees, donors, the people he was supposed to help, but other organizations who really do good work, but find donors wary of being taken inagain.

In typical Krakauer style, it is well researched and well written. I heard about the feud between Mortenson and Krakauer a few years ago. Then someone told me they refused to watch the movie Everest, based on Krakauer's book,Into Thin Air, because of his anti-Mortenson stance. So I decided to read this book to see the other side of the argument. I personally never gave money to Mortenson's charity, and ater reading this, I'm very glad I didn't.

While there are always two sides to any story I simply can't imagine anyone being able to make an effective defense of Mortenson's many disreputable acts as presented in this exhaustive report. Far too many discrepancies exist to be easily explained as missteps or simplifications in the service of making complex events more easily absorbed by the readers of Three Cups Of Tea as Mortenson continues to maintain. Ego run amuck followed by endless self serving rationalization pretty much sums up my personal take on the recipe involved in brewing those Three Cups of Tea!

John Krakauer exposes the lies and fraud by the author of Three Cups of Tea. Is his usual investigative style, Jon tries uncover the character of a man with good intentions who, nevertheless embellished the stories of how he came to be an instrument in the establishment of schools in the back country of Afghanistan and Pakistan, and later used the foundation he created to enrich himself rather than the intended recipients.

Having been caught in the same network of lies as so many others, reading the account of the duplicitous nature of the “beloved “ Mr Mortenson just made my blood boil. My daughter and her husband really went all out to promote this jerk. Buying copies of the first book and shipping them to those who asked in return for a promise of donations, only to have the whole enterprise blow up in their faces ...disgusting.

Exhaustively researched, enlightening, sobering. I love Krakauer's writing - it's no hyperbole to say his books have changed the course of my life, so it was hard to bear his heartbroken, vitriolic jeremiad, justifiable though it is. And probably just as hard to bear is the downfall of an admired character like Mortenson, who, like so many, start down that road paved with good intentions but lack the inner fortitude to withstand "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune". If you've read "Three Cups of Tea" you owe it to humanity to read Krakauer's follow-up. Then go out and do small acts of local kindness that you can see through to the end and won't bring you fortune and fame.

I'll keep this succinct: my bride Pat and I fell into a bit of a windfall not long ago. We had both recently finished reading Mortenson's Three Cups of Tea. We kicked around the idea of sending Mortenson's Central Asia Institute a donation that would have been substantial for us. I cannot recall why we ultimately did not make such a contribution; it may be that we opted to donate to projects closer to home. At any rate, after reading Krakauer's article, I am glad we donated elsewhere.

After reading an article in Parade magazine I couldn't wait to read Greg Mortenson's book, Three Cups of Tea, and his attempts to set up schools in remote areas. However, later news articles started to paint a different picture of what his foundation was actually accomplishing and at what cost. I kept hoping it was all a simple problem that could be easily fixed. However, Jon Krakauer, an early supporter, does a thorough job of researching and backing up a history of fictionalized exploits and financial mismanagement by Mortenson that convinced me that Mortenson is in a world of his own making, spinning tales and spending foundation money with no concern for accountability. A wake-up call for anyone wanting to donate to a charity. Most disappointingly, Mortenson gives no indication that he believes he has done anything wrong. A good read.

This book should be included in high school reading. Regardless of whether you agree with the ideas it is a wonderful example of research, passion, and hard work. It is also well written and brings up religious, societal, and psychological questions and issues that should be examined, researched further, and discussed not just among the academics, but among everyone. Teenagers should be given the chance to get a global, historical picture of religions and how they have shaped the world so that they can be more informed and prepared to create their own personal beliefs and rituals in order to be healthy, functioning adults out in the world who are tolerant and respectful of everyone around them.

All the way back in 1949, Joseph Campbell wrote a book titled The Hero With a Thousand Faces. The book contains hundreds of examples of stories from a wide range of mythology, including those from Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, Native American, and Greek (and countless other) canons.Campbell identifies similarities in style as well as structure between the great adventure stories/mythologies throughout human history. Famously, he determines specific characteristics about the hero and his or her journey, hence the term (coined by Campbell) familiar to readers and writers alike, The Hero’s Journey. In effect, there is a very specific set of rules governing what makes a great story. And just in case I wasn’t certain of the extent of Campbell’s research, the book contains over forty pages of endnotes and other references. The man put in the research time.Reading The Hero With a Thousand Faces came at the perfect time for me. I’d heard of it and seen it recommended to me on Amazon for quite some time, but I never took the time to actually read it. Actually, I “Wikipedia’d” it a few times, but that was the extent of that. But in finally reading the book, Campbell has helped me understand much better some of the ideas that I’ve been working out in my weekly “Books of the Bible” review posts. If you’ve read any of my recent Bible book reviews, you’ll immediately recognize that Campbell has already clearly written what I’m still trying to figure out for myself. For example:“For the symbols of mythology are not manufactured; they cannot be ordered, invented or permanently suppressed. They are spontaneous productions of the psyche…”Powerful stuff.Here are the rules governing the first great stage of the adventure story (some of it is paraphrased in my own words):The Call to AdventureInitial Refusal to Heed the CallSupernatural Aid/Mentor/“Old Man” (Old man is a direct quote from Campbell.)Crossing the First ThresholdBelly of the Whale (The Point When the Hero’s Death/Ultimate Failure seems Certain)Truly, Exodus would have been the perfect story to compare with Campbell’s ruleset, but I just wrote a review of Exodus last week, so I wanted to do something different. The Karate Kid might just might be the most perfect modern example of them all (and one of my favorite movies). So I thought it might be interesting to see just how closely the writers of this movie follow Campbell’s rules.Young New Jersey native Daniel is called to the great land of adventure (California) by his mother. He hates it there (his initial macro-reluctance to heed the call) and would like nothing more than to move back home. The only saving grace (besides a pretty girl) is a mentor (Mr. Myagi) that he meets when he arrives. After getting into some trouble with the local bullies, Daniel’s mentor signs him up for a karate tournament. Daniel is mortified and has no faith in his ability to survive a karate tournament like that (Micro-reluctance to Heed the Call), “I cannot believe… what you got me into back there!”But Daniel does as his mentor says and enters the tournament anyway (Crossing the First Threshold), where he manages to make it to the semifinals, further than he ever dreamed, before even hitting a snag. When he gets there, young bully Bobby cheats in a most despicable manner, kicking Daniel directly in the knee, damaging Daniel’s body seemingly beyond repair (into the Belly of the Whale, i.e., Daniel’s ultimate defeat seems certain). But just as soon as all hope is lost, Daniel’s mentor heals his leg through supernatural methods and Daniel comes back to win the tournament, his dignity, and the girl. Indeed, it’s a Hero’s Journey almost worthy of Moses.Note: There are other rules and further stages to the story that I haven’t included in this short review, but it seems to me that these are certainly the essential components to the modern story. Maybe some other time, I can write about the further stages and which stories they apply to (Lord of the Rings comes to mind).My final say on this book is as follows: If you’re a student of religion, mythology or philosophy, or if you are a writer (whether of music, poetry, or fiction), read this book. It contains a lot of good information.

Mr. Campbell uses examples for ancient stories to prove his point. The book is not at all boring and I finished it within a day. I also recommend this for college students.

This book sounds just like an opportunism. The book was release before the Beta version from the Blender 2.8, then the mouse buttons references are inverted.The book is not focused in the Blende 2.8 features, basic or not. Lot of stuff is ignored. Like an example, the object collections feature are not even mentioned in the book.

This book can't even get left vs. right mouse button straight. It is a very cheap book. You can't even see what is in the pictures of the interface.

If you're looking for an up-to-date intro to Blender, with an eye toward the fast-changing interface of version 2.8, this books is a great choice. Of course, here in January 2019, it's your only choice too. ;-) It presents a competent survey of Blender tools and techniques, with consistent mention of new conventions from 2.8.
