I'm not sure why the first reviews that come up are from random people who got the book for free.. If I want a review of this book, it should reflect the effectiveness of the book's purpose, which is to serve as a resource for passing the current PE Civil national exam. Free product testers who get something and slap on 5 stars hurt the integrity of the review system itself, and I'm really curious as to why some of them would even want this book, like are they really taking the exam or even have a PE license.. I get that it's an easy way to get a product to 5 stars but it's still lame.Edit: Just saw the book is only $300 on the official ppi website and they give the digital version free

I received this book today, opened the package and was immediately a little disappointed with the quality. I thought this was supposed to be a new book. The cover and spine are scratched, a couple corners are bent, and there are stains on a couple of the first few pages (I haven’t looked at all the pages yet). Either way, I will be keeping this because the price was decent and my PE exam is coming up. Otherwise, this is the book I wanted.

The book has pertinent information in reference to the PE Exam for Civil Engineering. However, very disappointed with the index. The index points you to the wrong page everytime. This is quite annoying when you're planning to take a test that is timed. If this was a misprinted copy it should be labeled that. For the money I spent I expect everything to be in order.

There are many errors in the book. From chapter 49 to 53, there are at least 2 errors. if you see 53-7, they use U=1.2D+1L+1W, but for M1s and M2s they still use factor 1. and 50-18, case 1, error description about the effective width (see ACI 318-14 6.3.2.1 for correction)how can i trust the book... ...i would like give this book 0 star... if i can..

The book looked new from outside, did not use immediately. When I started using it after registering for PE multiple pages of the book came off (fell off from the spine) making difficult to use. In addition the pages are so low quality and thin that texts and figures of back of the page are visible. I never thought that such a recognized institution sells such low quality items.

Good Source of information, but not sure if it’s going to be a good reference for PE exam.

Appears to be a good reference for PE exam, although about half the sections are on topics not expected to be on the exam. We will see...and will also see whether it is useful as a reference in practice (not for exam)

The CERM is definitely a must have for the Civil PE exam. It misses the mark at being a good study tool though. It does not do a good job of teaching you the materials, mainly used just as an equation lookup reference.

This book is written by a dentist to help educate people on dental hygiene and prevent tooth decay and further painful and expensive issues. I like that the book was broken down into several sections and easy to understand. I expected it to be long and with detailed medical procedures, but I was pleasantly surprised.I especially liked the section on teaching babies and young children how to properly care for their teeth and how to teach them not to fear going to the dentist. New parents will appreciate that part of the book. There is a lot of really basic information about dental hygiene for all age groups in the book. I liked that the dentist who wrote the book broke down exactly what tooth decay is and how to recognize and prevent it. This book is really easy to understand and quick to read.If you are someone interested in improving or maintaining your health, it is important not to neglect your teeth. While it is something I think most people know, this book will help you to understand how your oral health contributes to your overall well being.

I think people forget that having your original set of teeth is a pretty darn good way to live life, so some people forget how to take care of their mouths. I wanted to know how I could improve my oral hygiene and how to prevent tooth decay without spending big bucks at the dentist's offices. Dr. Inserto makes dental hygiene fun, and that is not something I say lightly (having one fake tooth, no wisdom teeth, and a built up tooth).You learn about what causes tooth decay, how to treat, and even how to help your children become life long teeth havers. There are quite a few things out there that cause tooth decay that I didn't even think about, such as dry mouth. It works its way from infants to adults, telling you how to take care of teeth at different stages. The doctor also lets you in on what foods to avoid and what foods to have to help promote healthy teeth.

This book is all about tooth decay. It includes a ton of information including a definition of what tooth decay is, symptoms, causes, treatments, and more. There is also information on reversing and preventing tooth decay, which is always good to know.There is additional information on tooth decay at different points in your life, like when you are a baby, a teen, and when you are elderly. These sections include information on how you should care for your teeth at these stages in your life.Also included in this book is a list of foods to eat that help you keep healthy teeth and gums, and a list of foods not to eat because they can give you a greater risk of tooth decay.All in all, this title contains a lot of helpful information for anyone trying to take good care of their teeth.I would recommend this to anyone that wants some information on what tooth decay is and how they can prevent it or reverse it.

First of all, I never thought a book about how to prevent TOOTH DECAY would be terribly exciting but this one pleasantly surprised me. It was really easy to go through and didn't have any of the fluff or boring long stretches that most books in these categories have. What I liked the most was that it really gives you practical things you can do and also avoid to make sure that your teeth are healthier than ever, which took a lot of worry off of the table for me. Highly recommend this if you want to keep your teeth in premium condition, which SHOULD be everyone. Pick up a copy of this book. You won't be disappointed.

This is a great book for anyone interested in having healthy teeth. It not only lays out the basics of tooth decay in a simple, straightforward manner. It teaches you how to prevent tooth decay in the first place which is, of course, the ideal. It also teaches you how to reverse tooth decay – immensely helpful for those of us already experiencing symptoms. I love that the book even includes a list of foods that you should eat to prevent tooth decay as well as those to avoid. I never really thought of decay in terms of certain foods. This was great knowledge for me! Recommend this for those interested in healthy teeth.

Yes, you can get all the information in this book online BUT i gave it five stars because1) A dentist wrote it. (Reliable source)2) It's all there. (I don't have to search for every tooth problem)3) Nice touch. (Yes, I mean the cover. No, I am talking about the section on tooth decay prevention according to different age groups, from babies to teens to the elderly. This section is really thoughtful and I am touched by the fact that a dentist, someone I have a natural tendency to fear and hate, would go the extra mile to write something like this.)Thanks, doctor.

Garrison Keillor shows his trademark humor in his Forward to this lovely coffee table book: "The mansions of Summit were intended to declare the owners' status in St Paul society – you could drive by and see the porte cochere, the colonnade, the turret, and you knew that the owner had not just fallen off the turnip wagon."Unfortunately for the houses, succeeding generations weren't always able or willing to keep them up. By the 1960s, according to Paul Clifford's Introduction, ¾ of the houses in the area were renter-occupied, often with the large houses split into apartments. The drive to restore and preserve houses started in the late 60s, and now a big area of Summit Ave is listed on the National Historic Register.All of the 24 houses shown in "Great Houses" are in top condition and have been restored to their former glory where needed. As all 24 houses are privately owned, a book with full-sized photos is probably the only way I'll get to see their beauty. Each house has a short write-up and picture captions. There are several pictures for each house, many full page. That makes them large photos, because a page is almost 9" x 12". There are no people in the photos, it is the architecture and decoration that are the stars. Except for when the owner's pet is in the frame.There are many wonderful rooms shown, in many different styles. One of my favorites is the Music Room in the Frederick A. Fogg House. This extraordinary room has a European light & airy feel. With its delicate plaster-work and high ceiling, it is an oasis of beauty. The customer image I've attached shows its arched windows and painted ceiling round.Another favorite of mine was the wonderfully carved wood in the Samuel & Madeline Dittenhofer House. Darker woods like theirs is out of style now, but it has a sturdy beauty and creativity to be admired. In particular, I got a kick out of the green man carved on the staircase, see the photo attached.The last chapter in the book is titled "Landmarks", and these are short blurbs on 24 houses or points of interest that are more public, such as the Governor's House, the Cathedral of St Paul, and the James J Hill House (which I've toured).As a last treat, there is a Glossary at the end. Check on terms used throughout the book, such as "lozenge", which has nothing to do with cough drops. Also, as a non-fiction book, "Great Houses" has a very complete list of Sources, including the interviews with the house owners.This is a lovely coffee-table book!Happy Reader

My daughter and I spent a delightful morning and partial afternoon touring these beautiful structures on Summit Avenue in St. Paul, Minnesota and some others on adjacent streets. Having done that, and now having enjoyed this book has given both of us, and my wife, a desire to tour some of the houses the next time we're in the Twin Cities.

Bought as a gift. It's what the recipient asked for.

It was an anniversary gift for my husband. We had shared a large apartment in a mansion on Summit when we were first married. He has enjoyed the bounty of exceptional, colored photographs depicting various interiors of the mansions. However, more written historical content on the subjects would have been welcomed.

Even though we don't live in St Paul, we are aware of Summit Avenue and truly enjoyed the book. This summer we plan to drive on Summit and see the actual houses that are pictured in the book, and the other hill areas also. It was a very neat book and really gave an insight into these homes to want a person to know more!!! It was well written and the pictures were fabulous!!! These are such beautiful homes. It is wonderful that the original woodwork, etc. was kept and preserved in these homes. Also, that the actual homes were preserved in this unique neighborhood.
