I'm not sure why the first reviews that come up are from random people who got the book for free.. If I want a review of this book, it should reflect the effectiveness of the book's purpose, which is to serve as a resource for passing the current PE Civil national exam. Free product testers who get something and slap on 5 stars hurt the integrity of the review system itself, and I'm really curious as to why some of them would even want this book, like are they really taking the exam or even have a PE license.. I get that it's an easy way to get a product to 5 stars but it's still lame.Edit: Just saw the book is only $300 on the official ppi website and they give the digital version free
I received this book today, opened the package and was immediately a little disappointed with the quality. I thought this was supposed to be a new book. The cover and spine are scratched, a couple corners are bent, and there are stains on a couple of the first few pages (I haven’t looked at all the pages yet). Either way, I will be keeping this because the price was decent and my PE exam is coming up. Otherwise, this is the book I wanted.
The book has pertinent information in reference to the PE Exam for Civil Engineering. However, very disappointed with the index. The index points you to the wrong page everytime. This is quite annoying when you're planning to take a test that is timed. If this was a misprinted copy it should be labeled that. For the money I spent I expect everything to be in order.
There are many errors in the book. From chapter 49 to 53, there are at least 2 errors. if you see 53-7, they use U=1.2D+1L+1W, but for M1s and M2s they still use factor 1. and 50-18, case 1, error description about the effective width (see ACI 318-14 6.3.2.1 for correction)how can i trust the book... ...i would like give this book 0 star... if i can..
The book looked new from outside, did not use immediately. When I started using it after registering for PE multiple pages of the book came off (fell off from the spine) making difficult to use. In addition the pages are so low quality and thin that texts and figures of back of the page are visible. I never thought that such a recognized institution sells such low quality items.
Good Source of information, but not sure if it’s going to be a good reference for PE exam.
Appears to be a good reference for PE exam, although about half the sections are on topics not expected to be on the exam. We will see...and will also see whether it is useful as a reference in practice (not for exam)
The CERM is definitely a must have for the Civil PE exam. It misses the mark at being a good study tool though. It does not do a good job of teaching you the materials, mainly used just as an equation lookup reference.
