The author's challenge wasn’t finding 100 things to check off the list, but figuring out what to leave out.Thankfully, although the title says "100 Things to doâ€, the book includes multiple options on location. For example under number twenty, Pig Out On Barbecue, the author admits that “deciding who has the best barbecue in Atlanta is just a silly game†(p. 33) and then lists nine different barbecue restaurants. Next to entry thirty-three, Eddie’s Attic, is a list of five more intimate music venues.The book also contains helpful tips about what activities are free but require reservations in advance, podcasts to download before visiting, and what locations are best enjoyed with an early arrival. The list of suggested activities, activities by season, and the index are just the right thing to help get you out the door and enjoying the town.Most entries are within the city limits and plenty within a few blocks of a MARTA rail station. I have to admit that I have lived in the Atlanta area for most of my life, and I had no clue about many of the things to do here that are covered in this book. This is an easy read guide book with lots of information, tips, and addresses to all of the places. The author adds humor and southern charm as she gives a brief description of what to do, where to do it, and what to expect . This is the perfect gift for anyone living in or visiting the ATL. I plan on doing #65 and #84 very soon!
I've lived here in ATL for 30 years. And I still need to hit some of these places! It's a great guide for locals as well as transplants. It is such a great town to live in and we are lucky to have such a great guide.
This book was more for locals who live in Atlanta than visitors. No information on rates or fees.
Got this for a friend who just bought a condo in Buckhead. We plan to check off the sights as we visit them. Too fun! I then bought one for my hometown to ensure I don't miss anything.
Best book for a native Atlantan or a newcomer to this great City. Hightly recommend it!
